Running SEO Scans

Crawl your site to find SEO issues.

Starting a Scan#

To run an SEO scan:

  1. Go to your project's SEO tab
  2. Click Run Scan
  3. Wait for the crawl to complete (usually about 30 seconds)

SlyDuck crawls your site starting from the homepage and follows internal links to discover pages.

Page Limit

SEO scans crawl up to 250 pages per scan. For larger sites, pages are prioritized by link depth from the homepage.

What Gets Checked#

Each page is analyzed for common SEO issues:

Page-Level Checks

  • Title Tag: Present, unique, proper length (50-60 chars)
  • Meta Description: Present, unique, proper length (150-160 chars)
  • H1 Tag: Present, single H1 per page
  • Images: Alt text present on all images
  • Links: No broken internal links
  • Canonical URL: Properly set if present

Site-Wide Checks

  • robots.txt: Present and valid
  • Sitemap: XML sitemap exists and is accessible
  • HTTPS: All pages served over secure connection
  • Mobile Friendly: Viewport meta tag present

Understanding Results#

After a scan completes, you'll see:

  • Overall Score: 0-100 based on issues found
  • Issues List: All problems found, grouped by severity
  • Page Details: Click any page to see specific issues

Issue Severity

  • Critical: Major issues that significantly hurt SEO (e.g., missing title tags)
  • Warning: Issues that should be fixed (e.g., title too long)
  • Notice: Minor optimizations (e.g., meta description could be longer)

Export Options#

Export your SEO scan results using the export buttons:

  • CSV: Spreadsheet with all pages and issues
  • JSON: Structured data for programmatic use
  • PDF: Formatted report for clients
  • Markdown: Text format for documentation

Regular Scans

Run SEO scans after major content updates to catch new issues before they affect your search rankings.
