Overview#
DuckSpeed is SlyDuck's performance analysis feature. It uses Google PageSpeed Insights to analyze your site's loading speed, accessibility, and best practices.
Key features:
- Core Web Vitals metrics (LCP, FCP, CLS)
- Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, and SEO scores
- Actionable recommendations for improvement
- Analysis of homepage plus priority pages
How It Works#
DuckSpeed connects to Google's PageSpeed Insights API to analyze your pages. For each analysis:
- Your page is loaded in a simulated environment
- Performance metrics are measured
- The page is audited for best practices
- Results are scored and recommendations provided
Real User Data
When available, PageSpeed Insights includes real user data from Chrome users who have visited your site. This gives you actual performance data, not just lab results.
DuckSpeed vs SEO Scan#
DuckSpeed and SEO scans serve different purposes:
- DuckSpeed: Analyzes page loading performance and Core Web Vitals
- SEO Scan: Crawls your site for SEO issues like missing meta tags
Both are important for a healthy site. A fast site (DuckSpeed) with good SEO (SEO scan) will rank better in search results.
Performance Scores#
DuckSpeed provides four main scores from 0-100:
- Performance: How fast your page loads and becomes interactive
- Accessibility: How usable your page is for people with disabilities
- Best Practices: Modern web development standards
- SEO: Basic SEO checks (title, meta description, etc.)
Score ranges:
- 90-100 (Green): Good
- 50-89 (Orange): Needs improvement
- 0-49 (Red): Poor
Focus on Performance
While all scores matter, Performance has the biggest impact on user experience and search rankings. Start there if your site is slow.
